Just why?
2. Skinless Chicken Breasts in a Slow Cooker
I have no issue with someone skinning a chicken breast, just as long as that protein is treated with utmost care. So, when one poster declares hatred for influencers influencing chicken breasts incorrectly, I can empathize. "Why anyone would want to take this leanest, driest of meats and cook it for hours and hours and hours is beyond me," sighs a vehement protein protector.
3. Annoying Thumbnail Titles
Clickbait content, such as online food trend videos, can grate on one's nerves, though some people despise the video titles. "This Appalachian raw horse foot literally saved my summer," jokes the commenter. Hey, what if they are telling the truth? Don't knock raw horse hoof until you try it, Internet user!
4. Kitchen Sink
"When people pour the food on a countertop or in the sink to mix ingredients," starts the next thread. I will admit that I am not up to scratch on trending food videos, though I have seen enough to realize I don't want any part of it. At what point does one look at their sink and consider this move? What happened to a good, old-fashioned mixing bowl? I repeat: no part.
5. Fake Recipes
"There are some low-effort sites that crank out weak recipes," warns a foodie, "and people put in a lot of effort (cooking) at get-togethers that are important to them and are highly disappointed." To be fair, you shouldn't experiment with new recipes for the first time with dinner guests — at least without trying the recipe first.
6. Nacho Baby Showers Are Gross
"Those nacho table things where people roll out foil and just pour everything on top," laments a disgruntled food fan. I am quite appalled to consider this imagery, especially the aftermath. "I saw it done in a baby pool, and it was somehow even grosser," adds an even more discouraged commentator. Check, please.
7. Mashed Potato Chips
"That crazy lady who made mashed potatoes out of potato chips," remarks the following observer. "I have heard of moronic food practices before, but using potato chips to make mashed potatoes is beyond criminal." How expensive is a potato? What's next, rehydrating beef jerky into filet steak? I am 75% certain that is already a thing.
8. Cheese Pulls
A cheese-pull is when the video maker uses ounces of cheese in their recipe so they can cut and 'pull' the food apart (think pizza commercials) for a 'sexy' melted stringy cheese effect. "The video isn't complete until you get a final closeup of a blanket of stretchy cheese," notes someone wary of the practice.
9. Outrage Recipes
"I know the whole point of those is to enrage people," comments someone, "but when I saw one where this girl destroyed a really nice looking steak, all I could think was an animal died to produce that steak." Outrage vlogs are low but produce viewers, so they are here to stay. However, we could do them a favor and not watch or share these aberrations.
10. Cake in a Cup, Anyone?
"Those cake-in-a-cup-type things you see sometimes taste fine," notes a commenter, "but they are a nightmare to clean when you are finished." I have tried a cake-in-a-cup recipe, and I was not concerned about the cleaning; the recipe was just awful. Why stop at cake-in-a-cup? I can think of other interesting combinations: How about cake-on-a-plate?
